The DAISY Award
The DAISY Award celebrates nurses who provide extraordinary, compassionate care and create meaningful connections with patients and their families.
About the DAISY Award
DAISY is an acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune System. The DAISY Foundation was established in the memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who died at age 33 from complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura.
Patrick's family created the award to recognize the skilled and compassionate nursing care he received and to celebrate nurses who provide that same extraordinary level of care.
Who Should You Nominate?
Celebrating Extraordinary Nurses
Each DAISY Award Honoree is recognized during a ceremony on their unit and receives a certificate, DAISY Award pin and Healer's Touch hand-carved stone sculpture. The unit also celebrates with cinnamon rolls, which were one of Patrick's favorite during his illness.
