The need for a pediatric hospital in Eastern Kentucky was great. Pikeville Medical Center met that need by continuing to transform healthcare in the mountains and making what was once a dream – reality. The Mettu Children’s Hospital at Pikeville Medical Center allows families to stay close to home, reducing the inconvenience and financial burden of traveling to children’s hospitals hundreds of miles away when their children need care.

Here, dedicated healthcare professionals work tirelessly, offering their expertise and compassion to ensure every child gets the chance to live a healthy, joyful life. Every child deserves the chance to dream, laugh and live a healthy, fulfilling life, no matter their geographical location or socioeconomic class.

Drs. R.V. and Jyothi Mettu’s donation of $1.5 million came after what they both said was a deep longing to make a contribution that would affect current and future generations of children across Eastern Kentucky. Thanks to this generous donation, the Mettu Children’s hospital is making a difference in the lives of Central Appalachian children.
